Department- School of Public Health- HGC Community

Location: Rio Grande Starr County @ 400 North Garza Road

Status: FT (Temporary)

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

Coordinates and conducts patient interviews and follow-up on various research projects.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Conducts field studies, identifies/contacts study participants and invites them to participate in research projects.

  • Prepares interview schedules and conducts participant interviews; maintains contact with program participants.

  • Collects and processes blood specimens and/or coordinates for someone to take specimens from study subjects; keeps track of patient and specimen identifications.

  • Provides data collection and administrative support in carrying out various research projects.

  • Communicates study participants’ questions and/or concerns to the Principle Investigator.

  • Coordinates and trains others to interview study participants.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

  • Phlebotomy Experience.

  • Knowledge of MS Office applications.

Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

  • Two years of related experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

  • This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

  • This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
