McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a part-time (0.50 FTE) non-tenure clinical track, Assistant Professor level in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Participating in the Geriatric service at various Harris Health System locations at Settegast clinic, House Call Program and Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital for coverage.

  • Collaborating with other Geriatric and Palliative physicians who will join the division.

  • Being involved in the recruitment, selection and hiring of new or additional physicians to the group.

  • Providing feedback regarding office operations including hiring staff, office logistics and new physician recruitment.

  • Participating in the education and training of medical students, residents and fellows.

  • Supporting the research mission of the department and university through:

a) Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff,

b) Assisting when requested with collection of research data including

biological specimens, and:

c) Providing information and education on on-going research studies

to potentially eligibly research subjects.

Qualifications:

The selected candidate for the position requires having a Texas Medical License or being eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License prior to employment.

The applicant must have must be board certified in an American Board of Medical Specialties approved training program, have advanced training in geriatric medicine, and be board-eligible or certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Family Practice.
