Interviews newly diagnosed patients, communicate with contacts in professional manner. Collects in-depth data on exposed places and persons. Records data for documentation.
Case Investigation is a process that identifies individuals who may have been in contact with someone who is infected by a virus—in this case, COVID-19. Once these contacts are identified by case investigators, public health workers known as contact tracers communicate with these individuals to warn them of potential exposure and connect them with public health information and services including testing.
Case Investigators will be employed, trained and monitored by the UTHealth School of Public Health. The Case Investigator will conduct in-depth interviews with people who have already tested positive for COVID-19 and identify contacts for Contact Tracers to then contact. This team will use a web-based data management platform to call all contacts of anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 and will be collectively responsible for documenting information, providing individuals with instructions and referring to additional services as appropriate. The Case Investigator will work with a team of other Case Investigators and will track progress, monitor quality performance/data collection, and troubleshoot issues. The Case Investigators will follow all scripts, policies and procedures and be supervised by a Project Manager.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Perform phone calls interview with contacts who have been exposed to COVID-19, to places of business a COVID-19 positive patient has frequented, and to refer patients and their families to different social services.
Work with team of Case Investigators to engaged in case interviews, contact tracing, and linkage to services
Maintain daily communication with their assigned Supervisors
As needed, conduct case reviews with Supervisor and Training Coordinator to ensure comprehensive and high-quality interviews
Assist in quality assurance monitoring to ensure that data are appropriately collected and entered into the data system; troubleshoot and follow-up on data errors
Provide Site Supervisor with ongoing feedback on protocols, data collection instruments and issues for problem solving
Other duties as assigned.
Will be trained by project manager or principal on techniques to interview, complete questionnaires, and operate equipment.
COVID-19 Certification Highly Preferred
Bilingual Highly Preferred
High School diploma
Bachelors Degree in Public Health or related field is preferred.
Two years related experience with emphasis on any public contact (e.g., sales, communication, healthcare). May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Previous experience with Salesforce and/or Texas Trace is preferred
Prior Contact Tracing or Case Investigation Experience is preferred.
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
