We are looking for an Assistant Director of Employee Assistance Programs. This employee will be responsible for the provision of employee assistance programs and other service offerings to client populations as defined in contractual agreements with external local, state, and regional colleges, universities, businesses, and constituencies. They will provide support to the Executive Director regarding innovative ways to provide EAP promotion, relevant training content and strategies and business development opportunities. You will manage day to day operations, and also have direct reports that includes clinical account managers, EAP triage, EAP data system and other service vendors. The individual will also serve as acting senior leader in the absence of Director for all external and internal EAP operations.
Our UTHealth EAP is a long established EAP program with a staff and operations serving our own Academic Health Science Center employees and their family members since 1983, and is located in the Texas Medical Center. With our expertise in higher education and local municipalities we also provide EAP services to some external organizations. This Assistant Director would provide management and oversight of our account management team who are also licensed mental health clinicians, Texas-wide contracts, business development, provider network and office operations. This person will need to be an experienced mental health clinician who will provide counseling, trainings, management consultation to employees dealing with any type of personal problem that might impact on their own or a family member’s health or well-being which could impair their job performance. The individual will also serve as senior leader in the absence of Director. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the various models of EAP services and will develop creative approaches to promoting our services and developing programs and strategies to reach across the diverse employee populations and programs we serve. A strong knowledge of how to utilize electronic media and streaming program delivery are preferred. In addition, the Assistant Director will play a key role in maintaining and nurturing the current culture or teamwork, inclusion and professional development/growth.
The candidate must have an active mental health license to practice in Texas. Some on-call responsibilities are required. This is a full-time role that is classified as exempt. It qualifies for all UTHealth benefits including healthcare coverage and participation in a pension plan run by the State of Texas. You will office out of our University Center Tower in the heart of the Texas Medical Center.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Responsible for growing the revenue of the UTEAP by effectively developing and implementing marketing and revenue enhancement/generation strategies that meets the financial targets; selling UTEAP, and managing/growing customer relationships. Leads strategy development and marketing efforts to penetrate into, or expand presence in targeted markets.
Responsible for the development of marketing, outreach and prevention programs including workshops, presentations, student/employee orientation lectures, etc. Delegates and/or presents the development and provision of these orientation/educational programs.
Coordinates with the Executive Director on complex contract negotiations or account strategies.
Directs a team of licensed mental health professionals, customer service staff and provider relations to ensure appropriate and efficient clinical operations including setting expectations for client clinical services and daily activity of the clinical staff; supervises other administrative staff as assigned.
Oversees the ongoing recruitment and management of Network providers in response to growth in EAP services in new geographic areas. Monitors and ensures accuracy of the credentialing process.
Conducts Service Recovery Practices to resolve service issues reported by individual clients and contracting organizations.
Works in cooperation with Financial/Business support and the Account Manager to ensure accurate billing activities for the program and assists in the resolution of discrepancies between the patient, carrier, and external billing vendor.
Manages account manager staff to ensure alignment between customer needs and the services delivered.
Supports the ED in the management of the daily clinic operations in support of the external business, including purchasing, approving time off, staff of the day procedures and processes, provider authorization and patient scheduling, auditing electronic record entries, and resolving interpersonal conflicts among staff. Is the primary interface with our worklife vendor and our EMR vendor.
Provides input for budget preparation and assists in the budgeting process each year; manages associated budget.
May carry a caseload of external accounts as well as EAP clients.
Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection; hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Strong organization and computer skills; proficient in MS Office applications; experience in presenting and speaking to large and small groups; excellent writing and
customer service skills.
Current mental health practitioner license required.
Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, business or related field.
Six (6) years of clinical management and EAP experience.
Periodic local and overnight travel required to meet the contractual and business needs of our customers.
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
