McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure clinical track Assistant Professor faculty position in the Department of Pediatrics Gastroenterology. The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The Pediatric Gastroenterologist will provide direct patient care to patients in the Gastroenterology Clinic and consultations; evaluate, examine, diagnose and treat gastroenterologic disorders for pediatric patients; perform endoscopy, esophageal pH-impedance probe testing, colonoscopy, breath hydrogen analysis, percutaneous gastrostomy placement, polyp removal, foreign body removal, therapeutic endoscopy, and liver biopsy. The physician will collaborate with many other groups, including general pediatricians, pediatric surgeons, neurologists, pulmonologists, nephrologists, intensivists, and neonatologists.

The candidate will participate in the education and training of medical students and residents and will support the research mission of the department and university through a) Facilitating reasonable and appropriate access to patients by research staff; b) Assisting when requested with collection of research data including biological specimens; and c) Providing information and education on on-going research studies to potentially eligible research subjects; and d) participating actively in assisting and/or reviewing the division’s research efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.

  • Board certification in Pediatric Gastroenterology.

  • Completion of a board-certified pediatric gastroenterology training program in the U.S. or Canada.
