McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full time, non-tenure clinical track Assistant Professor in the Department of Diagnostic & Interventional Imaging, Section of MSK. The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical services and professional activities.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The Assistant Professor in Diagnostic & Interventional Imaging will provide clinical services in our section of musculoskeletal imaging at Memorial Hermann Hospital-TMC and its affiliated outpatient imaging centers and LBJ General Hospital. In addition, you will provide direct patient care and supervision of medical students, residents and fellows in clinic and hospital settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and sustaining an environment in the patient care units that support excellence and innovation in clinical practice and patient care through assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programs and standards that support positive patient care outcomes to include excellent risk adjusted outcomes.

  • Serving as role model in professional behavior and leadership skills, problem-solving ability and interpersonal skills.

  • Delegating authority and accountability to clinical & nursing staff for clinical practice and patient care decisions that is consistent with professional standards,regulatory agencies and organizational policies and procedures.

  • Maintaining an ongoing departmental Quality Improvement Plan and process consistent with the organizational Quality Management Plan; developing and implementing unitspecific standards, policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of care and services; continuously assesses and improves assigned departments performance while enhancing service.

  • Participating in and/or chairs committees, work groups, and meetings at as appropriate.

  • Assuring interdisciplinary performance improvement programs are active, maintained and ongoing.

  • Following up to ensure that complaints have been satisfactorily handled.

  • Collaborating to maintain a focus on providing excellent clinical services.

  • Maintaining professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, in-services, current literature and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trendsin fields of expertise; supporting and promoting education and research

The academicresearchopportunities at McGovern Medical School are abundant. The basic science section of the department is well equipped (withresearchdedicated 3.0 and 7.0 T MR units) and well staffed with physicists. Functional imaging is a major focus of research activity.

The musculoskeletal department has a comprehensive clinical practice with all facets of diagnostic and interventional services. The major facets of the MSK section include

  • High end sports imaging including National football league (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA) , University teams and Ice hockey leagues

  • MSK Ultrasound diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

  • Platelet rich plasma (PRP) procedures and biologics treatment with image guidance.

  • Rich case mix from the LBJ County hospital

  • Extensive MSK / clinical research opportunities

  • Expanding MSK operations with leadership opportunities

Qualifications :

The selected candidate for the position must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. Must have completed a Diagnostic Radiology Residency and Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging. Must be board cerified or board eligible.
