The Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness will guide, support and assist with university processes to evaluate and improve the quality of student learning, educational programs, academic and student support services and the administrative units across the university. Supports strategic planning across the university (school-based and institutional planning) and the evaluation of strategy effectiveness and outcomes. Collects and analyzes data and develops reports relevant to the strategies implemented as part of the university's activities with a focus on documenting continuous improvement. Collaborates with academic and administrative units to support the use of relevant data in decision-making throughout the university, as well as develops a process to respond to specific research/data requests.
This role focuses on people and data - how do we improve the programs and services of the medical schools to be most effective? You will function as the liason between the schools and the central administration for students. You will be administrating over surveys, and making sure that we are improving from a data analytics standpoint. You must be able to take a strategic vision and express how it is being met through data points and information.
Candidates should have a higher education background, and also assessment and accreditation experience. We prefer someone with at least a Master's Degree if possible. Applicants should have a good analytic head and also experience with qualitative work.
This is a full time role that will work in our University Center Tower. It is classified as exempt. It is eligible for all benefits from UTHealth including excellent healthcare options as well as a pension administered by the State of Texas.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Leads the university’s institutional effectiveness/continuous improvement functions by working with all campus departments (schools and central administration) to develop plans, and assesses the achievement of program, departmental, and institutional goals; works with departments to develop appropriate outcomes; works with schools and departments to assess effectiveness and implement improvement plans; and provides information to managers and academic units in support of program planning and review.
Serves as a liaison and provides support to key staff in the Office of the President for strategic planning and assessment activities; assumes responsibilities for keeping UTHealth in compliance with SACSCOC institutional effectiveness standards, requirements and policies; coordinates program-level review and other data and reports to THECB as required.
Provides ongoing orientation, training, and support to school-based personnel in the design and assessment of program and functional unit reviews.
Creates, administers, and reports outcomes of institutional surveys (i.e., Annual Student Perception Survey), evaluations, and assessments in alignment with the strategic priorities of the university’s decisions requiring a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of regulations, policies, and procedures.
Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with university and school-based accreditation standards, policies, and guidelines.
Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection; hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded; financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Expertise in strategic planning, program planning and evaluation; understanding of accrediting processes in higher education; ability to communicate clearly and professionally both orally and in writing including presentation of data in major reports and publications; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with ability to lead groups with diverse participation including institutional/school leadership, faculty, students and staff.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution with a focus in educational psychology, program evaluation, higher education administration, or a related field that includes educational planning, data analysis and/or research methodology.
Six (6) years progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education, institutional research, institutional planning and effectiveness, program evaluation, campus planning, or a demonstrated record of comparable professional experience.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
