We are looking for an analyst in billing and collections to work in our Bursars Office. This employee administers, bills, and tracks receivables, develops metrics reports, and ensures all billing contractual requirements are met. Candidates should have prior experience with higher education sponsored billings and posting payments. The individual must be able to interpret federal, state and local policies and procedures to work with on-line agency billing requirements. You must be able to deliver superior customer service, and have the ability to build relationships with sponsors to resolve sponsor payment issues. Excel experience is required, FMS Peoplesoft and Campus Solutions experience is a plus. Cash handling skills are required. In this position you will be a member of a seven member team for Bursar Office. You will be responsible for assigning, billing, aging receivables and collecting Third Party Sponsors for student tuition and fees. You will also be collecting student payments, and maintaining the office change fund.
This is a full-time role that is catgorized as non-exempt. The employee will be eligible for all benefits from UTHealth including healthcare coverage and participation in a pension plan run by the State of Texas.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Establishes and maintains billing files, including initial review of billing and collection instructions to ensure compliance with contract requirements and timely processing of invoices.
Processes monthly and quarterly billing, including reconciliation of automated billing invoices to revenue and unbilled AR entries. Prepares detailed supporting documentation as required.
Researches, analyzes, and resolves billing discrepancies between external customers. Acts as a liaison between external customer and UTHealth departments.
Develops monthly metric reporting of all assigned accounts and provides data on collection status, and presents results as required.
Conducts audits of assigned projects with internal, UT System, State and/or Federal billing and receivable auditors.
Prepares recommendations of doubtful or write-off accounts for recording monthly delinquent receivables.
Prepares adjustment journal entries as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
At least an Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or finance; or relevant experience in lieu of education.
At least two (2) years of related experience.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
