McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure or tenure clinical track Associate Professor or Professor position to be the Burn Medical Director and Chief of Burn Surgery in the Division of Acute Care Surgery in the Department of Surgery. The candidate will join a talented team of physicians that strive for excellence in education, research and clinical practice.
Position Key Accountabilities:
The candidate with rank of Associate Professor or Professor of Surgery will be responsible for directing the daily activities of the Burn Section, which falls, under the division of Acute Care Surgery. The candidate will be the Burn Medical Director and Chief of Burn Surgery which includes administrative duties such as overseeing providers engaged in burn care, ensuring high-quality and high-value care, and pursuing continued burn center verification. In addition, the candidate will also provide direct patient care, supervise medical students and residents in the clinic and hospital settings, and build burn-related research activities.
The selected candidate for the position must have a Texas Medical License. The candidate must be board certified in general or plastic surgery and have completed a burn surgery fellowship. Additional certification in surgical critical care would be preferred.
