We are looking for a Data Management Analyst to work with our Development team. This role functions as an overseer of the donor database. You will be responsible for data accuracy, integrity, and security of all constituent records, and for maintaining and enhancing the highly confidential data of the Office of Development’s database system (Raiser’s Edge). You will be responsible for ensuring the overall effectiveness of the database, data input and output, reporting, technology management, and end-user training and support. You will need to be able to design and run reports on a routine and ad hoc basis. Knowledge of Crystal Reports as well as Tableau would be extremely helpful. Candidates will need to have an extreme attention to detail, and knowledge of fundraising strongly preferred.
This is a full time role that is classified as exempt. It will be located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center at our University Center Tower. This employee is eligible for all UTHealth benefits including comprehensive healthcare coverage and participation in the State of Texas retirement plan.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Produces routine and ad hoc reports by using standard Raiser’s Edge reports and designing Crystal reports as needed. Includes working with development staff and external department staff to design and produce mailing lists, financial and operations reports, and data analyses for use by senior university and department management, development officers, prospect researchers, other development staff, and external departments.
Analyzes the effectiveness of the database in meeting the needs of the Office of Development, particularly in the areas of tracking fundraising goals, prospect moves management, and response rates to various fundraising efforts.
Designs and implements methods and policies for using the database effectively, and documents such practices and policies. Develops and applies policies and procedures to safeguard data security, maintains the confidentiality of all data, and ensures the integrity of the data.
Processes new data or changes to existing data, researching and verifying such information as needed. Includes items such as address changes, other demographic information, portfolio assignments, fund/account information, event attendance, alumni information, etc.
Coordinates with the university’s Information Technology department on software upgrades and patches, as well as other technical issues.
Provides basic end-user Raiser’s Edge training for Office of Development and other university staff, as well as troubleshooting assistance for minor technical difficulties relating to access to and use of the database, passwords, etc.
Keeps abreast of trends in the field of data management, emerging technologies, and available data management tools.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail. Knowledge of the fundraising process.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook.
Proficiency with relational databases (Raiser’s Edge experience preferred), particularly data imports and exports and developing reports.
Working knowledge of Crystal reports.
Experience running and reading quantitative reports and the ability to understand their meaning enough to judge accuracy.
Training certification from Blackbaud, Inc. preferred.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, information technology, or similar field.
Three (3) years of experience managing relational databases, preferably Raiser’s Edge or a similar donor/alumni database system. At least one year of professional experience in a fundraising/development office.
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
