Position Type: Part Time/Casual (up to 19.5 hrs/wk)
Provides direct and indirect advanced levels of patient care for medical emergencies under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician. The EMT-Basic is responsible for driving a first response vehicle to acute stroke 911 calls.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Cares for patients in critical condition.
Documents vital signs of patient and provides acute standard of care treatment.
Ensures safe care to patients while adhering to policies, procedures, and standards, within specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
Responsible for driving a first response vehicle to acute stroke 911 calls within the city of Houston.
Assists in lifting, carrying and transporting patients.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Current EMT-Basic License issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Current Driver’s License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Graduate of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician-Basic program.
- 2 years of experience in prehospital emergency medical assessment and treatment applications.
Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
