Position Summary:

UTHealth Houston is looking for a Financial Analyst who will work primarily on reporting functions in our Capital Assets area. This employee provides professional level skills in performing simple to moderate complex financial analysis for the institution. Completes financial analysis and assists in the development of various institution wide and operating unit specific financial reports. You will need to be able to generate monthly financial reports about asset management, equipment transfers, and donations. Sometimes you will create general ledger entries for assets, and you will reconcile accounts that deal with equipment. Annually this analyst will work on our State of Texas financial reporting.

This role will report to a location south of the Reliant Center at our Operations Center Building. It will require a good deal of on-site presence, especially during training or when closing out the year-end reporting. It is eligible for all UTHealth Houston benefits including healthcare and a pension plan run by the State of Texas.

Preferred areas of expertise include:

  • State of Texas AFR financial reporting experience

  • Asset Management experience

  • Accounting/General Ledger/PeopleSoft experience

  • Asset Management certification

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Develop, prepare, analyze and/or review reports summarizing financial activity for the institution.2. Prepare and analyze historical and projected financial data to provide senior management with valuable information upon which to make relevant financial decisions.3. May analyze, prepare and/or review sponsored projects financial activities. 4. Assist in the preparation and submission of the annual financial report, the annual operating budget, quarterly operating projections and the monthly financial report to senior management and UT System.5. Prepare and analyze reconciliations of activity with UT System.6. Analyze and prepare documentation and support as requested by internal and external auditors.7. May assist in and/or prepare the indirect cost proposal for the institution.8. May analyze and prepare needed adjustments to both actual and budget ledgers for the institution.9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

At least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.

Minimum Experience:

At least Three (3) years of related experience in a financial or accounting area.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
