UTHealth - UT Physicians Sickle Cell Clinic is hiring a Nurse Manager to lead their clinical team of professionals! This unique facility, located in Houstons Museum District at 1200 Binz Street, Suite 850, is the only family comprehensive sickle cell center in Houston.
The ideal candidate will have experience working an an ambulatory clinic setting , managing nursing and medical assistant staff , knowledgeable about case management processes , be comfortable writing standard operating procedures , policies and guidelines. Someone who is familiar with infusion of chemotherapy or other drug therapy is a plus.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8a - 5pm
Directs and coordinates nursing staff to assure high quality, optimum patient care.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Coordinates the schedules of the department physicians, administrative and nursing staff to ensure adequate coverage and maximum utilization of manpower.
Manages the duty assignments of Staff Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and Hospital Aides based on availability of physicians and patient load. May "fill in" to provide coverage because of illness, vacations, or emergencies.
Schedules for as many as 160 doctors who may see up to 700 patients per week.
Monitors departmental expenditures against a budget. May compile daily and monthly administrative reports. Works closely with Department Chairmans Office, Human Resources, Emergency Room, Purchasing, area hospitals, and laboratories.
Directs proper handling of patient charts, coordinates with other medical departments and hospitals for admissions and scheduling, makes decisions involving personnel changes and assignments, type and quantity of supplies needed, and proper solution to any problems arising with patients over scheduling, appointments, or charges.
Handles phone calls from patients regarding medical problems and laboratory results. Refers questions or problems of an unusual medical nature to physicians.
Monitors and maintains inventory in order to assure efficient clinic operation.
Ensures compliance with specifications of regulatory and accrediting agencies in order to meet federal, state, and local standards.
Instructs subordinates in proper examination room techniques and procedures and often gives lectures and demonstrations of new procedures in order to update knowledge of nursing care.
Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
Other duties as assigned.
Current nursing licensure in the State of Texas.
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing school.
Three years experience required; prior supervisory experience preferred.
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
