Position Type: Casual/ Non-Exempt (up to 19.5/hrs wk)

Location: Texas Medical Center- Houston, TX

Position Summary:

Provides direct and indirect advanced levels of patient care for medical emergencies under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Depending on department needs, may be responsible for driving a first response vehicle to acute stroke 911 calls.

  • Documents vital signs of patient and provides acute standard of care treatment.

  • Cares for patients in critical condition.

  • Ensures safe care to patients while adhering to policies, procedures, and standards, within specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.

  • Assists in lifting, carrying and transporting patients.

  • Maintains supplies, ensures ambulance and equipment maintenance.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Current Paramedic License issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.

  • Depending on department, may require Current Driver’s License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED and completion of a Department of State Health Services approved EMS training course.

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years of critical care and/or emergency room experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
