We are in search of a medical charge entry representative to join our Revenue Cycle team as part of UTHealth Neurosciences. Each charge entry representative is responsible for the day-to-day operations for their assigned providers including entering demographics and charges. Assisting in identifying problems and ensure that accurate demographics and charges have been entered. While maintaining volume productivity, adhering to UTHN assigned metrics, and upholding the core values of our team. Our group has a passion for creating positive patient interactions and we are seeking a team member that is dedicated to caring for the well-being of others. This opportunity will also allow for continued growth and development within a multispecialty, comprehensive neurosciences practice.
Position Key Responsibilities:
Create charge batches from charges reports received
Enter patient demographics
Enter charges into practice management system
Run eligibility and insurance verification checks and make necessary corrections
Review CPT, ICD-9, ASA and HCPCS coding on charge tickets and reports
Enter charge data on each patient into the patient accounting system with high level of accuracy
Expected performance is to enter 145+ charge tickets per day
Review claim errors/rejections and make necessary corrections
Resolve routine insurance billing inquiries and problems
Run daily concurrency reports and validation reports
As part of being a revenue Cycle team member will provide support to Revenue Cycle work units and other work units as assigned.
Other duties as assigned
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and effective interpersonal and phone etiquette skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite, proficient typing/keyboarding skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
Multi-tasking and creative problem-solving skills.
Effective customer service skills and able to work effectively in a team environment or on an individual basis.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate from a vocational business school with a minor in a job related field preferred.
- Six (6) months of hospital/medical collections experience with understanding of third party reimbursement procedures, as well as state and federal regulations governing healthcare.
- Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
- This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
