Position Summary:

UTHealth Houston Office of Public Affairs is looking for a mid-level, motivated, organized, detailed project specialist to join our team who is looking to grow with a high-performing visual design and creative team. Brand management, project management, reporting, internal client communication, and goal setting and tracking are the core functions of the position. Planning, forecasting, updating, and team support occur daily. PMP certification and branding experience a major plus.

This is a full-time position that will office out of our University Center Tower in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. You will be eligible for all UTHealth benefits including great coverage under our healthcare plan and participation in a State of Texas pension plan. This role is classified as exempt.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Directs the completion of a project, coordinates the planning of the project by acting as a liaison between the departments requiring the service and those providing the service.

  2. Completes a project plan in order to determine the timelines associated with the project.

  3. Develops a list of resources needed to complete the project.

  4. Generates the purchase orders in an organized manner to ensure necessary supplies are available if needed and in the sequence needed to maintain the original schedule.

  5. Schedules all work to allow for anticipated delivery dates, availability of resources in the proper sequence as well as contracting with outside resources as needed.

  6. Directs assigned employees in performing the project.

  7. Ensures high standards of performance and adherence to the original schedule through consistent follow-up.

  8. Provides work direction and guidance to personnel within the Department. May lead projects and activities.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned that revolve around branding, goal setting, and estimates.


MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Scheduling Software, and experience with fabrication drawings.

You should be able to review branding, art used for that purpose, and printing jobs.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Design / Visual Communications or a related field or experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Three years of professional work experience preferably in communications, advertising, or public relations.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
