Come join the Data Management and Analysis Core (DMAC) of the Institute for Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases! DMAC team develops and manages the in-patient registry for stroke patients admitted to Memorial Hermann Hospital system.In this position, you will report to the Data Management and Analysis Core (DMAC) manager and work closely with the other data abstractors, data programmer and data quality analyst.

Position Key Responsibilities

  1. Under close supervision work with the Data Management and Analysis Core to abstract pertinent information from medical charts to enter into an existing database system.Training on use of database will be provided.

  2. Attend team meetings, assist data manager and data control analyst with running reports and queries.

  3. Actively participate in data quality control projects.

  4. Make follow-up phone calls to patients.

  5. Assist the chair of the department in research projects as needed.

  6. Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.

  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

  • Be proficient in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Outlook and MS PowerPoint), and Data entry.

  • Ideal candidate will be proficient in medical terminology and use of electronic medical records.

  • Have some background and knowledge in Neurology, Stroke, Radiology, and/or general medical knowledge.

  • Be able to work independently and as a part of a bigger group, maintain orderly records, interact with the Stroke Team, and seek guidance as necessary.

  • General knowledge of healthcare research would be beneficial.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

No years of experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
