Position Summary:

Under general direction of senior research staff, conducts community relations activities to support the Harris County SARS-CoV-2 prevalence project. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Conducts project community outreach activities, under general direction of the project leadership team. Research activities may include some or all of the following: making connections with organizations and individuals in target communities, coordinating project community-based activities, identifying potential community mobile testing locations and other community outreach strategies.

  2. Assists in the operations and evaluation of the project community relations program.

  3. Maintains accurate and timely communications records as needed by the research project.

  4. Engages with community influencers, both at the individual and organizational level.

  5. Facilitates increased SARS-CoV-2 testing in target communities across Harris County through the development and maintenance of strong community collaborations.

  6. May participate in community education programs and events.

  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

General knowledge and some detailed concepts of research field assigned.

Preferred:

Excellent written communication and presentation skills.

Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple activities at a time.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

One year of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.

May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
