Position Summary:

Conducts and executes complex scientific experiments and research endeavors and interprets the results. Under general direction of the principal investigators, conducts activities to support research projects. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices.

Occasional travel to patient/study participant homes. Travel in Texas up to approximately 2 times/month. Ability to work evenings and weekends/flexible schedule.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Conducts research activities, under general direction, according to research. Research activities may include some or all of the following: facilitatepsychological and cognitive assessments in the study protocol, informatics, field interviewer, recruiting, screening and training.

Will assist the PI/Research Coordinator in all institutional regulatory board (IRB) submissions, amendments and continuing reports.

Will assist study team with coordinating study participant recruitment.

Will schedule patients for all follow up visits. Will develop and maintain an active database to track all study participants for their visits.

Will maintain contact with all study participants throughout the time they will be enrolled in the study.

Maintains accurate and timely records to include notebooks, records, databases, etc. as needed by the research project. Will assist with all abstract preparations and submissions as well as manuscripts for publication.

Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for research projects

Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Advanced knowledge of concepts of research field assigned.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field of science or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Two (2) years of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.

May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
