Conduct various research-related activities to support HIV-related research projects.

Position Key Accountabilities:
Conducts research activities, under general direction, according to research needs. Research activities may include some or all of the following: patient identification, consenting and screening, recruiting and follow-up, basic laboratory training and activities, and informatics for electronic data entry.
Provides assistance within a research project in accordance with the research protocol, including executing the primary research design.
Maintains accurate and timely clinical records and databases as needed by the research project. Enters information in research data logs and databases. May assist in designing research instruments or data collection forms. Maintains completed study data under lock and key.
May participate in the generation and review of data and analysis with Principal Investigator via chart review, interview, and follow-up consultation.
Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for clinical research as they are open to enrollment.
Answers and resolves queries in a timely fashion.
May participate in continuing education programs, workshops and seminars.
Completes and maintains study-specific regulatory documents, as needed.
Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.
Has daily contact with the Principal Investigator, patients, other members of the research team and study sponsors. Less frequent contact may include departmental administrative staff and other faculty members or researchers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Clinical trial experience strongly preferred. Human blood laboratory experience, electronic data entry systems experience, Bilingual (Spanish), and shipping of dangerous goods experience desirable. Prior medical field experience desirable but not required. Strong English reading and writing skills required. Must be comfortable working with diverse populations, including racially/ethnically diverse and LGBT populations. Must be able to work efficiently and independently, including working under deadlines.
Prior medical field and/or clinical trial coordinator experience strongly desired. Prior experience with LGBT communities and persons living with or at risk for HIV infection preferred but not required. Cultural competency toward LGBT communities and persons living with or at risk for HIV infection required.
Advanced knowledge of concepts of research field assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field of science or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Two (2) years of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
