The School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI), at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) has a non-tenure track position at the research assistant professor level in the areas of population genetics informatics .

UTHealth is in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center (TMC) located in cosmopolitan Houston, Texas, the fourth largest city in the United States. SBMI currently offers Masters and Ph.D. Degrees, along with a certificate program in biomedical and health informatics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be expected to plan, supervise, and direct research in population genetics informatics under the direction of Dr. Degui Zhi. The candidate will provide technical expertise to facilitate the study design, sample or data collection, pipeline development, data analysis, results implementation, manuscript writing, and grant proposal preparation. Collaborative research with other faculty in across UTHealth and TMC (e.g., MD Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor College of Medicine) is also encouraged.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The individual should possess a doctoral degree in one of the following areas: bioinformatics, genomics, genetics, computational biology, biomedical informatics, computer science, medicine, biostatistics, or related disciplines. A record of verifiable and published research in and potential for obtaining extramural funding are preferred. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are required.

This position is a full time appointment on the non-tenure track, renewable on a yearly basis.
