Position Summary:

We are looking for a reseach nurse to work with our Medical Oncology department. The main focus of the role is to coordinate and conduct research projects and related activities as assigned by a Senior Research Nurse or other Research staff. You recruit, screen, and enroll potential survey or study participants. You may be assigned multiple protocols and projects. This nurse will be dedicated to our medical oncology department, and will get to work with a lot of different specialties in this area.

This is a full time role eligible for all UTHealth benefits. You will be covered by our healthcare options and participate in a pension plan administered by the State of Texas. You will work in the heart of the Texas Medical Center in our UTHealth Professional Building. This position is classified as exempt.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Recruits and screens patients, collects specimens as necessary for research project and in accord with research protocols

  2. Enrolls suitable candidates, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and processed. Provides basic background and education to participants regarding the research project, and potential risks or benefits of participation.

  3. Inputs data and maintains research databases and related records needed for research.

  4. Schedules follow-up visits and maintains contact with patients, patients families, department staff, pharmaceutical company representatives, other faculty members and researchers as directed by the Senior Research Nurse or Research Associate.

  5. Distributes research information to faculty, research staff, principle investigator, and others as requested

  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Registered Nurse (State of Texas)

Minimum Education:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program.

Minimum Experience:

One year of related experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
