Position immediately available for high profile NIH-funded COVID-19 trial. Coordinates and conducts research projects and related activities as assigned by investigator or other research staff. Recruits, screens, and enrolls potential participants in clinical trial protocols. May be assigned multiple protocols. Protocols may span the full spectrum of medical care, include acute and critical care conditions and settings.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Takes lead in on-boarding of new research protocols. Tasks may include interfacing with sponsors, familiarization with protocols, development of operational plans for research implementation, coordination with research grants and accounting personnel, writing and submitting IRB protocols, addressing regulatory requirements, interfacing with sponsors, training staff, coordinating with required ancillary services.
Screens for potential research subjects.
Enrolls suitable candidates, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and processed.Provides basic background and education to participants regarding the research project, and potential risks or benefits of participation. Obtains written informed consent.
Executes study procedures, include establishing intravenous lines, administration of medications, and execution of research care protocols, as applicable.
Collects required data and observations.
Collects specimens as necessary for the research project and in accord with research protocols. Works with research and ancillary staff to facilitate processing and storage of samples.
Inputs data and maintains research databases and related records needed for research.
Schedules follow-up visits and maintains contact with patients, patients’ families, department staff, pharmaceutical company representatives, other faculty members and researchers as directed by the investigator.
Distributes research information to faculty, research staff, investigators, and others as requested
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must be able to perform some weekend or evening duties to complete select protocols.
Duties may require travel to UTHealth affiliated healthcare facilities, including Memorial Hermann and Harris Health hospital facilities.
Registered Nurse (State of Texas)
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
One year of related experience.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
