The Translational Biomimetic Bioelectronics Lab is looking for a Research Technician II to perform research and test validation of novel neurosurgical and neurotechnology tools. This role requires experience in histology and rodent surgery and other biomedical skills described below.
Opportunity to work gain multidisciplinary experience performing research and developing novel neurosurgical and neurotechnology tools.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Assists with performance of animal surgeries, including neurophysiology (ovine and rodent models)
Conducts histology and imaging
Assembles and tests chronic neurophysiology assemblies
Cleans and sterilizes all glassware, instruments, and pipets
Maintains a safe laboratory environment and follows safety procedures
Presents findings and communicates results to PI and lab
Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience with histology and rodent surgery. Biomedical skills preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of research laboratory experience.
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
