Position Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Analyst for our finance and general business office who will concentrate on billing and collections. This employee administers bills and tracks receivables, develops metric reports, and ensures that all billing contractual requirements are met. They also prepare monthly and quarterly reports as needed as support for month end and year-end closing. This office doesnt handle traditional medical billing, but rather research grants and clinical trials after they are funded by the award process. The senior analyst will be responsible for a heavier load of reporting than the traditional analyst, and must be able to work adeptly with MicroSoft Excel and Oracle PeopleSoft. You must be detail oriented and capable of finding correlations between projects and their invoices. Applicants must have at least four years of billing and collections experience to qualify for this role.

This is a fulltime role that is classified as salaried but non-exempt. You will be eligible for all UTHealth benefits including healthcare coverage and participation in a pension plan run by the State of Texas. You will work out of an office based in our University Center Tower in the heart of the Texas Medical Center.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Establishes and maintains billing files, including initial review of billing and collection instructions to ensure compliance with contract requirements and timely processing of invoices.

  2. Processes monthly and quarterly billing, including reconciliation of more complex automated billing invoices to revenue and unbilled AR entries. Prepares detailed supporting documentation as required.

  3. Researches, analyzes, and resolves billing discrepancies between external customers. Acts as a liaison between external customer and UT Health departments.

  4. Develops monthly metric reporting of all projects and provides data on collection status, and presents results as required. Recommends accounts for quarterly doubtful account reporting and write-off.

  5. Acts as department project liaison for internal, UT System, State and/or Federal billing and receivable auditors.

  6. Code incoming wires and checks to appropriate project invoices. Research unidentified payments.

  7. Prepares adjustment journal entries as appropriate.

  8. Prepare monthly department reports for review, including reconciliations to Ledger where needed. Monthly review of invoices on hold/UAR/Deferred Revenue/Other accounts as assigned.

  9. Analyze and confirm balances for year-end State pass through reporting with other State Agencies.

  10. Act as contact for billing module queries and provide supplemental training as needed

  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills. Exposure to Oracle Peoplesoft is preferred.

Minimum Education:

Associate’s degree in Accounting, business, or Finance; or relevant experience in lieu of education. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Four (4) years of related experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
