Position Summary:

We are looking for entry level and part time team members who will help support the Epic operational staff here at UTHealth. These employees will work with program management professionals in support of the Office of the CMIO to maintan and update the top tier healthcare Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, EPIC. You will participate in large scale EMR projects across clinical technology and learn best practice IT skills. You will get a chance to maintain a system that has had an immediate impact on UTHealth patients, providers, and staff.

You will need to be a self-starter, and someone who wants to jump in and help manage projects and create dazzling presentations. You dont have to know a ton about Epic or clinical practices, but you should have a good solid command of Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Microsoft programs. If you have project management experience or classes thats a big bonus for us.

This is a part time role that is paid hourly, and considered an internship that will last four to six months. You will be based out of an office in the heart of the Texas Medical Center in our UTHealth Professional Building. This facility is on the Metro rail line, and easy to commute to. This is a great opportunity to learn a lot about clinical IT and how it is managed. Our goal with Epic is to maintain, innovate, and be on the cutting edge of what a clincal system can do.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team that consists of healthcare IT informatics, analytics, program management, and training

  • Conduct business analysis, process improvement, and workflow analysis

  • Research top trends in healthcare technology and prepare informational presentations

  • Assist in scheduling, preparing executive level presentations, and facilitation of meetings

  • Participate in project execution activities and create project documentation

  • Communicate project status and present risks and issues

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Certification/Skills:

Dependable team member who is self-motivated, energetic, wants to learn, great at troubleshooting, has an affinity to training and technology and enjoys a fast-paced environment. Detail oriented, able to work under tight time frames, multi-task, prioritize and complete duties in a timely manner. Good reasoning capabilities.

Minimum Education:

Bachelors degree required preferably in Information Systems or Healthcare Administration. May substitute required education with equivalent years of additional experience beyond the minimum experience requirement.

Minimum Experience:

No experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
