Position Summary:

Provides oral and written translation of diverse patient care-related material.

Location: Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center/HCPC at UTHealth

Dept.: Programming

Status: Full-Time

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Provides written translation of patient histories and other medical reports, patient education and instructional material, advance directives, medical documents and other institutional publications.

  2. Provides oral translation of discussions related to patient referral, new patient registration, financial evaluation, patient assessment, treatment planning, admissions, discharge, and other clinical and healthcare-related discussions.

  3. Interprets clinical, financial, psychosocial and ethical discussions related to patient care activities.

  4. Serves as a resource to patients, staff and care providers to contribute to successful patient outcomes.

  5. Performs on-call translation duties requiring immediate response to electronic paging.

  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Minimum Education:

Associate degree or relevant work experience in lieu of degree.

Minimum Experience:

Two years of relevant experience.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
