The University of Texas Health Center at Houston (UTHealth), a leading academic health center-McGovern Medical School invites applicants for full-time Staff Physician (Hospitalist) positions in the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Responsibilities as a member of the Hospitalist Team will include providing:

  • Clinical service effort at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center helping to administer and potentially supervise medical care to acute hospitalized patients.

  • Clinical care, education of students and residents, and scholarship. The exact mix of these responsibilities will be determined by your interests and role, subject to the departments needs and the approval of the department chair.

  • Participation in all departmental activities including meetings, didactic conferences, seminars, lectures, case presentations; and your enthusiastic support of our Department’s professional activities is expected.

  • Participation in the Departments teaching activities including both the medical student and house staff educational programs.

Our service has a traditional block schedule with 7 days of clinical duties followed by 7 days of non-clinical time. This does include nights and weekend coverage which is distributed across all of the clinical team members. We have geographic rounding structure to support subspecialties, in addition to traditional medical patients in both a supervisory role for some of out teams and independently.

With a schedule providing manageable patient encounters and an established infrastructure, leadership skills can be used to enable the program to deliver quality patient management/care, enviable utilization rates, and timely discharges.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Board Certified or Board prepared

  • Licensed to practice in Texas or eligible to be licensed.
